HPV vaccination campaign

When can I get vaccinated?

The next vaccination campaign is expected to take place at the end of May/beginning of June 2025. We will be happy to inform you as soon as registration is possible. Please complete the form below.

General information about the project:

The HPV vaccination campaign at Campus Krems is aimed at all students and interested parties from Krems and the surrounding area. Organised by the student representatives (ÖH) of the KL and UWK universities, the campaign aims to provide easy access to the HPV vaccination. People under the age of 30 with an Austrian national insurance number receive the vaccination free of charge. People over 30 or without an Austrian social security number can obtain the vaccine from the pharmacy and have it administered at the vaccination centre without paying an additional vaccination fee. Registration is possible until 29 October 2024, the vaccinations will take place on two days in mid-November.

What is HPV?

HPV (human papillomavirus) is one of the most common viruses transmitted via intimate contact - almost everyone is infected with HPV during their lifetime (between 80 % and 95 %). This applies to both men and women. In most cases, an HPV infection goes unnoticed, causes no symptoms and heals itself within 1 to 2 years. In some cases, however, the infection can last longer, which can lead to genital warts, precancerous lesions or certain types of cancer.

Why should I get vaccinated?

The HPV vaccination protects against infection with certain types of the virus and can therefore prevent certain diseases. It primarily covers the high-risk HPV types that can cause cancer at the cervix, vagina, labia or anus. The vaccination also offers protection against low-risk HPV types, which are responsible for the development of genital warts.
