ÖH-UWK Publication and Research Grant

Support for publication, research & academic presentation

For students of the University for Continuing Education Krems who, due to their social situation, urgently need support for study- and career-relevant projects, the ÖH-UWK provides a social education grant. One sub-area of this is the Publication and Research Grant.

The ÖH-UWK Publication and Research Grant supports students who, as part of their UWK studies, publish academic work or conduct and/or present their own research activities. The aim is to make student research more visible and to help socially disadvantaged students participate more easily in the academic community.

Funding amount:

  • Up to €750 per academic year per person

As a rule, only one grant from this sub-area can be awarded per academic year.

What can I receive support for?

Funding is provided for publication and research projects that:

  • are directly related in content to studies at the UWK, and
  • contribute to professional and/or career development,
  • if the social situation justifies support by the ÖH-UWK.

Important: Double funding of the same expenses from ÖH-UWK funds is excluded.

Requirements:

  • You are an ordinary member of the ÖH-UWK with valid admission/enrolment (matriculation) at the UWK at the time of the measure to be funded.
  • You provide proof of social need.
  • There is a content-related connection to your studies at the UWK.
  • The measure/activity (e.g., publication/presentation) is verifiable.

Application process:

1) Submit the application in writing before the project begins

Send by email to: buero [at] oeh-uwk.at (buero[at]oeh-uwk[dot]at)

Subject line: Name + “Publication and Research Grant”

2) Attach the following documents (clearly legible scan/photo)

  • Valid proof of enrolment (matriculation confirmation)
  • Proof of the project including a cost plan
    (e.g., project/publication/presentation plan + cost overview)
  • A short written justification covering:
    • academic connection to your studies,
    • personal motivation,
    • why social education funding is needed.

Tip (helps with assessment): If available, include evidence that a publication/presentation is concretely foreseeable or already confirmed (e.g., confirmation/acceptance/submission receipt).

3) Signed data protection declaration required

For processing, a signed data protection declaration is required. You can obtain it here.

Important: If needed, the ÖH-UWK may request additional evidence/attachments or require standardized forms.

Procedure & decision:

  • Formal review by the ÖH-UWK office in cooperation with the Department/Unit for Social Policy.
  • Decision by a committee consisting of one person each from:
    • the chair,
    • the finance department,
    • the social department.
  • Processing generally in the order received; after all documents have been submitted in full, usually 2–3 weeks.
  • If funds are limited, cases may be prioritized by urgency.
  • Payment only by bank transfer after a positive decision; information on approval/rejection is provided promptly.

Selection criteria:

Selection is based on:

  • social need,
  • academic relevance and visibility of the project,
  • plausibility of costs,
  • budget availability.

Projects are prioritized that:

  • contribute to students’ academic profile-building, and
  • for which a publication or presentation is already concretely foreseeable or has been confirmed.

Important notes:

No legal entitlement to funding.

  • False statements lead to repayment and loss of eligibility.
  • Funding only within the limits of available budget resources.
  • A signed data protection declaration is required; applications without it cannot be processed. You can obtain it here
