A protected retreat for students with small children 

Studying with a small child can be wonderful – and challenging at the same time.

In order to provide UWK students with children under 18 months with the best possible support in a straightforward manner, we have created a special room at the UWK: the ÖH-UWK family room. The ÖH-UWK family room has been specially designed to make your everyday student life easier, especially if you need to take your child with you to a lecture or to campus.

The ÖH-UWK family room offers you a safe place where children can sleep, be changed, crawl, play or relax. It is also a space where carers can take a breather, settle in and feel safe.

What does the family room offer?

• A quiet and safe place where your child can sleep, be changed, cared for, crawl and play.
• Comfortable facilities for carers to rest for a moment or settle in undisturbed.
• A reliable retreat directly on Campus Krems.

Who can use the family room?

• Primarily UWK students with children up to 18 months old.
• Supervisors (e.g. mother, father or other caregiver) accompanying the child.
• Pregnant women who need a place to rest.
• UWK staff and external speakers may only book the room via the ÖH-UWK platform through UWK organisational assistants. Students always have priority when booking.

Important information regarding use:

• Students have priority when booking, as the service supports the compatibility of studying and family life.
• The family room is exclusively for the care and supervision of children up to 18 months of age.
• For children over 18 months, please use our cooperation with ‘DAS Kinderzimmer-Krems’ in Krems city centre.
• The service is free of charge.

Where can you find the ÖH-UWK Family Room?

The ÖH-UWK family room (room W.E0.01) is easily accessible on Campus West in wing W, on the ground floor, right next to the lift.

How does the booking work?

• Reservations can be made easily and digitally via our booking platform.
• After successful registration, you will receive confirmation of your booking by email shortly afterwards.
• Bookings must be made during the course period by 12 noon on the working day before.
• Bookings can be made for half a day (mornings from 09:00 to 14:00, afternoons from 2.00 pm to 7.00 pm) or full-day (from 9.00 am to 7.00 pm).
• Bookings may be declined during the period when no classes are taking place.
• By making a booking, you agree to the terms and conditions (AGB) for using the ÖH-UWK family room.

Is it possible to cancel the family room for the booked period?

Yes, cancellation is possible before the start of the booked stay.

Please note: If you do not cancel in good time and the room is not used, the ÖH-UWK may impose a ban on further bookings for up to 7 days. In the event of repeated misconduct, a permanent ban is also possible.

By cancelling in good time, you ensure fair use of the ÖH-UWK family room for all users. You are very welcome to take advantage of our offer again and book the ÖH-UWK family room once more.

How do you collect the key for the ÖH-UWK family room, and how do you return it?

Keys are collected from the ÖH-UWK key box (KeyGarage) in the library foyer, Wing C, ground floor. Library foyer opening hours: Mon–Sun: 07:00–22:00. The key box is located on the outside of the lockable lockers, which are situated to the right of the stairs. Students will receive the code for the key box and a collection confirmation form to sign in advance by email from the ÖH-UWK office.

Keys must be returned at the end of use by locking them in the ÖH-UWK key box (KeyGarage) in the library foyer, Wing C, ground floor. Library foyer opening hours: Mon–Sun: 07:00–22:00. The key box is located on the outside of the lockable lockers, which are situated to the right of the stairs.
